“Now a lot of people are making a bunch of noise about how the girl Courtney Stodden is a minor and how there’s a 35-year age difference between them,” Cooper said. “Blah blah blah…I don’t see what the big deal is.”

Krista Stodden Explains Parental Consent for her 16 Year Old Daughter to Marry a 51 Year Old Man
In an Interview with Fox411 Krista Stodden mother of the now famous Courtney Stodden the "16 Year Old Bride" explains signing the parental consent for marriage.
“We all needed a good man in our lives,” said Krista, adding the 35-year age gap does not faze her. “After a while you don’t look at the age. You look at the love they started to have towards each other. He became more than a number to us.”
Courtney, an aspiring actress, model and pop singer, met her husband when he began managing her career. Her parents welcomed Hutchinson, who is four years older than his new father-in-law, into their lives when he started dating their daughter.
“He was her manager, and then as we got to know him, we got to see what kind of person he was,” Krista said. “He just became a wonderful person in our eyes, and he’s a great Christian man.”
Courtney and Doug did not want to wait the two years until she turned 18 to marry. (Once you are 18, you do not need parental consent.)
“I think probably because the distance, they didn’t want to wait,” explained Krista. “They lived in different areas and, you know, they just wanted to be together and we supported her on that.”

Courtney Stodden's Music is Awful

FROM TEEN MOM TO TEEN WIFE?!
There aren't any rules in the Hollywood game...who knew that MTV's Teen Mom would be such a hit, and now possibly in the works is a new show concept: Teen Wife...
The most recent headline is the marriage between Lost actor Doug Hutchison [51 years old] and his girlfriend Courtney Alexis Stodden [16 years old], an aspiring country singer. The two got married in Las Vegas this past May. Since Stodden was a minor, she had to get the consent of her parent or legal guardian in order to obtain a marriage license in Nevada.
Surprisingly, Stodden's parents aren't too phased about the marriage. Her mother Krista Stodden told Radar Online, "We are totally supportive of this marriage. Doug is a wonderful man and we love him. They are very much in love and we are so supportive of this. Courtney was a virgin when she married Doug. She is a good Christian girl."
Amongst controversy between their 35 year age difference, the couple commented, "We're aware that our vast age difference is extremely controversial. But we're very much in love and want to get the message out there that true love can be ageless."
The Doug Hutchison I know is the one who starred in The Green Mile opposite Tom Hanks where he played such a grimey jerk and it's crazy how roles can stay with a person for years after. Though they are in "love" and are already married, I don't see the rush to get married especially when you're so young. Since she is an aspiring country singer, maybe her motives are to get some Hollywood connects, but who knows. This is just another day in Hollywood I guess...
